Hello hello and happy Friday to one and all!

Let’s start with yesterday afternoon, shall we?

During my 10 minute rush between class & work, I grabbed some pumpkin yogurt & bluebs for a snack.

IMG 6549

Then couldn’t help myself at work – they had some pizza that I absolutely love! White sauce & pineapple (picked off/ate around the ham) – yummm. Had a slice.

IMG 6552-1

So I wasn’t too too hungry for dinner. Kept it light with an egg & veggie (sauteed zucchini, onion & mushrooms) omelet topped with cheese.

IMG 6557-1

And some roasted squash & broccoli.

IMG 6560

I have a problem.

IMG 6562

And then my roommate made White Trash Toffee (toffee made with saltine crackers).

IMG 6563

Um. Yum. Had about 3 pieces too many.

IMG 6565

Whoops!

Breakfast this morning was quick and easy on my way out the door.

Cinnamon-raisin Ezkekiel english muffin. Half with pumpkin cream cheese, half with PB & jam.

IMG 6548

I had my breakfast very late (11:30! I was busy all morning and not hungry until then), so I wasn’t very hungry for lunch before work.

Had a snack of squash (+ ketchup) before work.

IMG 6444

This squash from last night is dry!!! I don’t know if it’s just a bad squash or I didn’t season it right, but man was it bland and hard to choke down. I literally had to take sips of water to moisten it up with each bite!

And then a small piece of this PB/Chocolate fudge thing at work

IMG 6352

& coffee at work. 1/2 caff Americano with 1 pump peppermint. + a splash of creamer & some NF milk of course. Delicious.

IMG 5649

I brought a sandwich thin to toast up at work, but honestly wasn’t hungry. I think it’s the “less-hungry” time of the month, y’know? πŸ˜‰ And that squash filled me up.

β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”

I wasn’t sure what to do a Flashback Friday post on today, but knew since Janetha is out of town, I should definitely do one in honor of her πŸ˜‰

So as I sat here procrastinating on my senior project paper, I decided to look back through all my pictures for inspiration. With senior project on my mind, I looked back at my freshman year pictures – I can’t believe almost 5 years have flown by!

Originally when I applied to my school (California Polytechnic University – or Cal Poly as it’s mostly known πŸ˜‰ ), I actually got rejected. But through my cousin, I knew of a “backdoor entrance” – apply for summer quarter! Rejected for the fall quarter of 2005, but accepted for summer 2005!

I literally graduated on Friday, went to our all-night grad party Friday night, packed up on Saturday, and drove down to school on Sunday. Phew!

47b5cf25b3127cce9559f1ae297c00000016108BaNHLJu4cc

I was so upset to be missing my “last summer home” after graduation, but I honestly had the best summer of my life away at school for that summer. I was only taking one morning class, and had the rest of the day free to relax and have fun – away from home! πŸ˜‰

My 3C roommate! (with Jamie – my old roommate I just mentioned the other day!)

DSCF0962

Summer was extremely empty. There were about 150 freshmen, and only about 10-12 girls lived on my dorm’s floor for the summer. We all became super close.

IMG 0296

We were the smallest floor up at the very top, so not many people came up to visit. Some didn’t even know people lived up on the third floor! So the “Third Floor Ghosts” we called ourselves πŸ˜‰

It was really sad to pack up and say goodbye at the end of the summer. 😦

The summer I started out dreading turned out to be the best one of my life. πŸ™‚

DSCF1508

I love my Third Floor Ghosts and won’t ever forget them!!

All right – enough procrastinating. It’s not freshman year anymore. I need to work on this senior project!

Plus I’m off to see Dear John later tonight! Eeee it’s definitely a BYOT (bring your own tissues) type of night, I’m sure πŸ˜‰

Hello dear friends, I’m at the library right now – obviously procrastinating taking a break πŸ˜‰

This weekend is going to be mad intense – 4 midterms, along with other assignments due next week. And I have my senior project to work on.

At least this morning’s breakfast was delicious. Welcome back to my life overnight oats!

IMG 6490

Last night I combined:

  • 1/3 cup oats + 1/3 cup yogurt + 1/3 cup pumpkin + 1/3 cup soymilk
  • 2 T raisins
  • Cinnamon & maple syrup

This morning I topped it off with:

  • Quaker brown sugar oatmeal squares
  • Life cereal
  • Naturally More PB

This was my first “yogurt” based overnight oats (with more yogurt, rather than milk). I could taste tartness, and while delicious, I think I prefer a thinner milk & mashed banana base instead πŸ˜‰

IMG 6492

And coffee enjoyed out of my favorite mug πŸ™‚

IMG 6491

Then I packed up the essentials and headed to campus!

Coffee, a large apple, carrots and an ABJ&B (almond butter, jelly, and banana) sandwich.

IMG 6489

IMG 6488

Gym was a 40-minute mixture of weights, abs & power-clams for the hips.

Then class.

Then 4+ hours of library time. Where I also snacked on an apricot Heart Thrive bar (not my fave. Although it’s probably better heated up).

Came home hangry for dinner and threw a very quick tasty Kashi meal into the microwave.

IMG 4283-1

The tuscan bake! Mmmmm.

IMG 4285-1

Plus roasted broccoli on the side (which looked exactly like yesterdays, so that is the picture I used – sorry).

IMG 6478

For the broccoli, I seasoned it with garlic salt, pepper, paprika, and olive oil. Then roasted it at 400 degrees for 20 minutes. Delicious. First time I’ve tried roasted broccoli is this past week, and I’m hooked!

Followed by some unpictured sour patch kids (or SPKs as my roommate calls them) and a “pumpkin pie” for dessert. With some melty whipped cream πŸ˜‰

IMG 6457

Disgusting looking, but might tasty, I swear.

I know this is two posts in one day (which may be a lot to catch up with! πŸ˜‰ ), but I couldn’t leave my Friday without my Flashback to Europe part 3!

Last I left you, my sister and I were ending our 3-day trip to Paris. We then took the chunnel back to London to spend another 5 days there. The first week, we stayed in a flat through my grandparents’ time share.

Copy of CIMG0086

Post-Paris, we stayed in a hotel.

CIMG0914

Which came with a daily gourmet breakfast/brunch. πŸ˜‰

This last week, we hit up the Tower, where they kept all the prisoners. It’s well-known for where King Henry VII kept his wives (including Anne Boleyn).

CIMG0919

Traitor’s Gate muahaha.

CIMG0953

CIMG0964

One day, we took a bus trip that stopped at Stonehenge,

CIMG0989-1

CIMG0988

CIMG1953

and Windor Castle

CIMG1008

On the last full day of our trip, my sister and I walked around, finding our way to Buckingham Palace

CIMG1060

To watch the changing of the guards.

CIMG1088

We also found our way to Platform 9 3/4 πŸ˜‰

CIMG1095

Unfortunately, try as we might, we couldn’t make it through the wall 😦

CIMG1097

On our walk, we ventured through Kensington Gardens

CIMG1101

CIMG1117

And came across Peter Pan! This was on my sister’s “to-see” list so she was excited.

CIMG1109

It was soon time to bid London goodbye.

CIMG1120

It was honestly the trip of a lifetime, and it couldn’t have happened without my wonderful grandparents. While my sister and I had to pay our own way, for some food, and for all of Paris, my grandparents made the trip amazing – treating us to dinners, tours, play tickets, and housing. They were amazing πŸ˜€

Regarding my post title, anyone see the Kellogg’s commercial where the guys are naming reasons why they like Kellogg’s cereal? And one guy goes “I like Kelloggs because it has ‘ello’ in the middle of it. Like ‘ello govna.” LOL I don’t know why I thought that commercial was hilarious. Β Just thought I’d throw that out there πŸ˜‰

This morning I had some of the most epic oats ever.

Cookie dough mocha oats to be more exact!

IMG 6449

On the stove, I combined:

  • Oats + soymilk + 2 egg whites
  • Spoonful of cocoa powder at end
  • Spoonful of instant coffee at end

Topped off with a nice blob of PB, chocolate almond butter…

IMG 6450

And a great big blob of chocolate chip cookie dough (I have in the fridge to make for a friend’s birthday).

IMG 6448

Wowowowowowowow!!!!!! I was once on a huge cocoa oats kick (especially cocoa peppermint oats), but the coffee powder kicked it up a notch. And cookie dough combined made it food-orgasmic!

(Yes I do eat raw cookie dough occasionally whenever I can get my hands on it πŸ˜‰ I know the whole raw egg thing is a huge scare to people, but I can’t help I like dough better than the actual baked good!)

It’s now time for London Flashback Part 2 – Paris Edition! (Missed part 1? Check out last Friday).

After the first week, my sister and I took a 3-day trip to Paris. I’d always dreamt of visiting Paris, so knew I need to take advantage of being so close to it.

We traveled on the Chunnel – an extremely fast train that goes from London to Paris.

CIMG0491

And walked to our hotel –

CIMG0502

Which had a lovely view of the River Siene.

CIMG0507

Right away, we got dressed and ready to begin our 2 1/2 day Power-Paris trip!

First, we made our way to the Notre Dame.

CIMG0529

CIMG0530

Unfortunately, it was closed that day and we couldn’t go inside 😦 I don’t remember the reason. But we made a pit stop a few days later to check out the inside πŸ™‚

CIMG0906

Hunchback Quasimodo’s friends πŸ˜‰

CIMG0534

We just wandered around, not exactly knowing where we were going! I think we were looking for a Metro stop so we could hop on it.

We found the Holocaust memorial.

CIMG0543

This picture screams Paris to me – I think it might be the shirt? haha. All I need is a beret!

CIMG0548

Came across a very denim family.

CIMG0537

Finally made our way to Sacre Coeur.

Can you spot me?

CIMG0564

I ran up into the crowd to pose for a picture like “Where’s Waldo?”

CIMG0565

I think it was the shirt πŸ˜‰

Beautiful view of the city from the top of the hill.

CIMG0561

We walked around up there for a bit.

CIMG0575

There was quite little village…town?

CIMG0580

Lost?

CIMG0581

When in Rome When in Paris – must have gelato!

CIMG0583

Remember my mug that my sister painted me?

Well this is where we saw the painting that she copied!

CIMG0582

Afterwards, we took the Metro back to see the Arc de Triomphe.

Enjoyed the weird intersections.

CIMG0639

We hung around on that street for HOURS waiting for it to get dark! By 10:00, we gave up – this is as dark as it got! Crazy how light it stays there so late due to the prime meridian!

CIMG0654

The next day, we decided to travel to the palace of Versailles.

CIMG0676

CIMG0683

The gardens were insane!!!!

CIMG0688

I can’t even put into words how big their “backyard” was!

CIMG0689

They got all the way back to the teeny tiniest end of this photo…

CIMG0702

We walked all the way there – where I got my first crepe at a food stand!

CIMG0715

And then continued even more onward to Marie Antoinette’s summer house! Yes, she had her own “summer house” on the same property as her palace. Recognize it from the movie Marie Antoinette?

CIMG0717

After this loooonnngggg day of walking (hours and hours and hours straight), we hit up the Eiffel Tower!

CIMG0793

CIMG0795

My sister was beyond exhausted, so she ended up heading back to the hotel. But I knew I couldn’t travel to Paris and not climb to the top of the tower!

CIMG0818

It was windy at the tippy top!!

CIMG0821

Hello America!!

CIMG0831

It was dark by the time I got down, and the tower was ablaze! I had to walk far enough away to get a picture.

CIMG0847

It’s hard to see in the picture, but it had white lights all over that twinkled – beautiful!

CIMG0850

It was absolutely breathtaking and I stood there forever just not wanting to leave. I was underneith the Eiffel Tower!!! Holy cow!! The Eiffel Tower! πŸ˜€

One thing is for certain, I came back that night and crashed. Never had I ever walked that far in one day from 8 am – 11 pm straight!

We were leaving in the afternoon of the next day, but wanted to fit in a quick visit to The Louvre of course!

CIMG0857

Everyone was taking pictures inside, including of the Mona Lisa. I felt bad thought (since technically you shouldn’t be taking pictures!), so refrained.

I also found Diet Coke with Orange! Knew I needed to buy such a thing and test it out.

CIMG0907

Gulp gulp!

CIMG0909

Hmmm….tasty! Similar to the lemon flavor.

CIMG0908

Tiny European car!

CIMG0890

And my first crepe was soooooo good, I knew I needed another to finish off the trip πŸ˜‰

CIMG0910

Paris was honestly so rush rush rush – it’s almost a blur! We tried to cram everything in, but I really want to travel back one day! It was also such a great experience since it was really my first trip alone in another city – a foreign city! Quite the experience πŸ˜‰

London trip part 3 coming next time πŸ˜‰

Happy Friday!!

Breakfast this morning, I was craving something I haven’t had in a while – Oatmeal!

IMG 6094

  • Multigrain oats + Almond milk + 2 egg whites
  • Pumpkin + Cinnamon + maple syrup
  • Raw almond butter
  • Pumpkin cream cheese
  • Sprinkling of cereal & granola

Yummm. Totally hit the spot!

After class, I hit up the gym where I did an easy 2 mile walk on the treadmill. My knees have been killing me lately, and I know I have to suck it up and just not stress them out. Followed by ab & hip strength.

Post-gym I was starving! Hard to see, but it was sauteed zucchini, onions, and chicken meatballs. Toppped with pasta sauce and nutritional yeast.

IMG 0574

Kind of light because I knew I’d be having dinner relatively soon. Baked sweet potato topped with Trader Joe’s baked beans and some laughing cow cheese! Delicious combo.

IMG 6370

When trying to decide what to Flashback upon this Friday, I was inspired by Miss Flashback Queen herself to travel back to my trip to London in June 2007! Β (I’ll split this into 2 separate flashbacks – it was a long trip, and I have lots of pictures!).

My grandma always promised my sister that she would take her on a trip to London after she graduated high school. I tagged along to keep her company πŸ˜‰

We bolted to the airport straight from her graduation!

CIMG4871-1

So excited – my first trip to Europe, and really my first trip without “adults”!

Exhausted from our multiple flights!

CIMG1807

The first day, we played “tourist” and rode the double decker tour bus!

CIMG0124

CIMG0157

CIMG01632

Day 3, we traveled by boat to Greenwich.

CIMG0185

The Prime Meridean! My sister and I are in different time zones!

CIMG0197

How cute are my grandparents?

CIMG1824

We had some fun in Harrods.

CIMG02231

Of course we would find ourselves in the toy section πŸ˜‰

CIMG0224

You know I love my polar bears!

CIMG0219

CIMG0215

CIMG1032

And came across our dream wedding dress.

CIMG1028

On the 4th day, we ventured to visit Hamptom Court – the home of Henry VIII.

CIMG0315

CIMG0237

With King Henry himself!

CIMG0257

We conquered the maze in his gardens!

CIMG0273

And found the “golden goblet”. I got really excited πŸ˜‰

CIMG0275

Beautiful gardens πŸ™‚

CIMG0290

CIMG0300

Being a grandmother, Sissie (what we call her) made us take a picture with everything and everyone – including the tour guides. They all look stoked. πŸ˜‰

CIMG1835

They also made us take a picture at almost every meal we ate out at.

With the pretty carved flower at the Chinese restaurant.

China Town dinner1

Wednesday, my sister and I split off and visited the wax museum.

CIMG0349

Oh hey Buffy.

CIMG0363

CIMG0366

CIMG0385

Abe & I – we’re like *that*.

CIMG0393

The rest of the week was filled with more famous landmarks.

Big Ben!

CIMG0421

London Eye.

CIMG04501

Shakespeare Globe.

CIMG0464

CIMG0456

London Bridge [is falling down].

CIMG0469

St. Paul’s Cathedral. Hi Paige! πŸ™‚

CIMG0473

We were extremely lucky to have traveled with my grandparents who paid for mostly everything – including the numerous plays we went to!

Phantom of the Opera.

CIMG1848

Billy Elliot

CIMG04481

Mary Poppins

CIMG0487

Wicked!

CIMG0967

Spamalot (HILARIOUS)

CIMG1054

That concludes London trip week 1! I’ll continue with week 2 (including our short Pairs trip) next week πŸ™‚

Have you ever traveled to Europe? If so, which country did you travel to or what was your favorite? If not, where would you love to visit?

Happy Friday friends! I ended up driving home pretty late Wednesday night and have been taking it easy here at home for the past couple days. I’ll be honest. We went out Tuesday night (my college town’s “Pint Night”) and I was definitely not feeling too hot and up to driving on Wednesday. I’ll have to thank some guy friends for coming into town and supplying endless rounds of drinks for that one.

Surprisingly, the first breakfast I had at home was a cereal & yogurt bowl!

Gingerbread yogurt and my new Kashi cereal I’ve been dying to try!

IMG 0551

I’m so proud of my mommy for now buying natural peanut butter πŸ™‚

IMG 0552

I also snagged this delicious minty candy cane cookie at my sister’s girl scout meeting.

IMG 0553-1

Delicious! Apparently it was just sugar cookie dough “spiked” with peppermint extract. Sooooo good.

And leftover stir-fry with kabocha squash (obesessed!!).

IMG 0557

My mom and sister have also been busy making brownies for gifts, and I can’t begin to tell you how much brownie batter and brownies I’ve been eating!

IMG 0560-1

No more! As much as I want to enjoy the holiday season and treats, these brownies are nothing special. And I’m completely sick of brownies by now!

Now to continue Flashback to holiday traditions! Missed either of the last two flashbacks?

Now it’s time for past Christmas Eves!

It’s always a tradition to take a family picture in front of the tree before we head out to church. I think it’s funny to see the trend in clothing – I’m obviously a repeat offender! πŸ˜‰

CIMG4124-1

Post-church, we usually drive around looking at Christmas lights! There’s one amazing neighborhood that goes all out.

One house has cut-outs all over! He makes them himself and adds new ones each year.

CIMG0681

I ran out into the rain to take this one!

CIMG0680

Another house changes their garage scene each year.

CIMG0682

And this house goes all-out crazy!!!

P1010095

I swear, they add more each year.

CIMG0687

But unfortunately haven’t decorated the past couple years 😦 What a let down! Guess they’re trying to cut back on their electricity bill…

Freeeezing Flashback

Well I’m done! πŸ˜€ About to go turn in my take-home final any minute. To recap yesterday quickly –

The chilly day started out with butternut squash oats. Topped with

  • TJ’s pumpkin granola
  • Sunbutter
  • Pumpkin cream cheese

IMG 0500-1

I overslept, and therefore only had time for a 15 minute strength/whittle my middle routine.

At work, I warmed up with some Tasty Bite lentil “chili” (it tastes exactly like chili). Topped with some sour cream.

IMG 0503

Some guacamole chips alongside for dipping.

IMG 0504

Yummmm I love guacamole chips πŸ™‚

I then snacked all afternoon on unpictured trail mix (almonds, peanuts, raisins, cashews, m&ms), See’s lollipop, and clementines.

Dinner was the last of my Fiber Gourmet mac & cheese with sauteed zucchinni, onions & extra parmesan cheese.

IMG 0509

In other news…

So I’m kind of PO’d at the weather gods right now. My friends and I had a weekend trip planned at the cabin for the past 4 months now. The past few weeks we’ve been worried about lack of snow, and then bam. Huge storm going on up there right now and this weekend. So big, in fact, that we decided to cancel the trip due to driving conditions 😦 Bummer.

To honor my non-cabin weekend, I decided to do a flashback of past winters up in Strawberry. Going to the cabin also happens to be another holiday tradition of my family’s. Missed my first 2 holiday traditions? Check them out!

3. Strawberry winter cabin trips!

Of course I’ve been going here for 10+ years, but I only have about 4 years worth of pictures on this computer 😦

F-F-F-flashback Friday time!!!

But first, how was everyone’s Friday?

Mine started out with sleeping in – *sigh* how nice πŸ™‚

And a nice yogurt bowl of yogurt + pumpkin, banana bomb muffin, sunbutter, pumpkin butter & a bit of cereal for crunch. Oh and banana slices! Banana slices make the yogurt mix πŸ˜‰

IMG 0464-1

I then proceeded to fail my quiz (meh – I’ll drop this one), and hit up the gym where my usual stairmaster was occupied. So I chose the stairmill (the revolving staircase)

pg 676796305

This thing works your thighs and butt way more than the stairmaster.

stairmaster 4200pt stepper

I don’t get as out of breath on the stairmill, but man, my legs were weak and shaky! It does hurt my knee more, which is why I stick to the master.

  • 30 minutes “fat burning intervals” level 12
  • 15 minutes whittling my middle

Came home hungry hungry!!

Black bean burger topped with guacamole. Mary crackers with spinach hommos.

IMG 0466

With “dessert” crackers topped with pumpkin cream cheese & pumpkin butter!

IMG 0467

Mmmmm guacie πŸ˜€

IMG 0468

+ an apple.

I completely chowed down my dinner without even thinking about it. Straight from the tuppaware container too!

But it was leftovers from my stir-fry this night which included

  • Tofu
  • Turkey
  • Cranberry sauce
  • pumpkin seeds
  • quinoa

Delicious.

Holiday season has always been a huge deal in my house. My mom is incredibly in love with Christmas, and it’s worn off on all of us! For the next few week’s worth of flashbacks, I thought I’d share some holiday photos and traditions with you all!

1. Gingerbread house making. It’s an all day ordeal! We make the gingerbread in advance, and then go crazy with candy and decorating! I remember my mom making them when I was young, and I just couldn’t wait until I was “old enough” to make a real one myself.

The one 2003 picture I have:

It’s a rule in our house that we have to give away our creations as gifts. Occasionally we allow one to stay in our possession for a holiday dessert πŸ˜‰

It’s hard to come up with new ideas each year. This year I chose to include a little guy sledding!

Always thought this picture was pretty cool πŸ˜‰

This year my front door ended up on the side, and I decorated the front and back with frosting decorated goodies. I actually liked this one!

Please note my little sister trying to sneak her class mascot monkey into the picture. haha.

This year’s theme was ‘love’ – with hearts on the roof, heart gummies, and a polar bear out front holding a heart! Β I’m not sure why I don’t have any better pictures/angles.

Can you tell it’s a tradition to take a picture in front of the tree? πŸ˜‰

Wait – where’s my “in front of the tree” photo? Oh yes – my mom had packaged up my house before I got a chance. How dare she?! πŸ˜‰

I also occasionally get together with friends. But by that point, I’m usually a bit worn out of gingerbread making and just make a silly one and just pile on the candy πŸ˜‰

My friends got creative and made a bedroom, large giftbox, and an arc!

2. Roommate Christmas cards

Okay, I’ve only done this 2 out of my 4 years, but I thought I’d share them with you anyways.

We weren’t such a fan of this one, but I thought the idea was cute!

Yes we are wearing matching shirts πŸ˜‰

This year we plan to take one this weekend. I’m excited! We need ideas though. Hmmm…

Speaking of gingerbread houses, I’m off to make some at our friends house tonight! It won’t be as intense as my one back home, but I’ll let you know how it turns out!
