So I know mostly everyone has gone back to school already or you’re in the fall “mood”. But my school is actually starting tomorrow (Tuesday – yeah weird. Why on a Tuesday? Don’t ask me). Quarter system colleges in CA start pretty late in September. And I actually don’t have classes on Tuesday (yay me!), so I technically don’t start until Wednesday!
As most people feel, I really don’t want to go back to school. I’ve had a wonderfully relaxing summer, and I’m not looking forward to classes, studying, and my college town becoming crowded again. But such is the cycle of life, right? 😉
First, let’s back up a few steps months. In case you missed it, this summer I…
Including getting lost for hours during one.
And sliding down the mountain to safety.
3. Saw some cool cars.
4. Sang my lungs out at Keith Urban’s concert
and Lady Antebellum’s:
5. Another LA trip for Disneyland and a Dodger’s game!
6. Got a twitter account!
7. Got a new Iphone !!!
8. Had an Operation Beautiful sighting.
9. Flew through the sky!
10. Rooted for my home team the Giants.
11. Had a Kayaking adventure!
I’m usually semi-excited for school (you know, that fresh and organized feeling you get), but I’m sad that my “last summer” of college is ending. It was fun to kick back and relax in such a low-key town. However, I do plan to take advantage of my senior senior year (aka 5th year) and make the most of it! I love this area and I definitely don’t take adantage of the beautiful hikes, beaches, nature, delicious food, etc around. Hope to see more of that in the future!
Now onto my exciting day. Again, thank you for all your well-wishes 🙂 Today was better, but still not completely normal.
Upon wakening, I ate 1/2 a mini cinnamon raisin bagel topped with PB before I headed to the
gym track for a run. Considering the fact that I haven’t fueled myself with much lately, my run went really well! I even had to stop myself from going farther.
Distance: 3.5 miles (with .25 mile in the middle)
Time: ~30 minutes (I forgot my G at home)
It was after the run that I felt weak and slightly nauseas for a while. I still didn’t get hungry all day, but eventually at 3:00 I knew I should try and eat something. I ate the other 1/2 of my mini bagel (dry), and toasted up a sandwich thin topped with strawberry jam & some cottage cheese.
What a bright-eyed toast I’ve got goin’ on there. I only ate one of those halves – could barely force it down
A little bit later I had a container of fruit.
I know something’s wrong when I’m grudgingly picking at fruit, one of the things I can eat a multitude of!
Half of a Vitamin10 water. I figured I could use all the extra nutrients I could get.
I actually really liked this flavor. It reminded me of those juice drinks that used to come in those bottles with faces on them. Does anyone else remember those? Or am I crazy?!
My boss arrived home and informed me she doesn’t need me Tuesday or Thursday this week since her mom is in town. Awesome. That means I got cut 20 hours in just one week (including last Wednesday). And it also means I have absolutely nothing to do tomorrow or Thursday now! This isn’t a regular occurrence, but it sure is annoying!
On the drive home from work, I could tell I was extra weak and shaky. While still no hunger pains showed up, I knew I needed something. I had this 1/2 of a cranbran Vitatop stowed in my bag:
By the time I got home and sat around for a bit catching up with the roommies, the weak light-headedness had only gotten worse. Still not hungry, I made some din. Sauteed veggies topped over a cheesy filled corn tortilla, with some guac & sour cream. And I also cooked up some plaintain on the side! Random side dish, but I recently bought it and wanted to try it out!
Pssst…notice my new Target plate?! Pink & orange for $2?? My roommate was so confused as to why I bought it when we have so many dishes, but I love eating off of fun plates and from fun mugs – and it’s prettier on the blog!
Darn, I didn’t realize until now that I didn’t get any of my delicious guacamole in the picture. Or the cheesy tortilla goodness. Anyways, multiply these veggies x2, and insert a whole avocado’s worth of guac. It was delicious. Although the plaintains were really flavorless and dry. For anyone who’s cooked them before, how did you cook/season them? This was the first real meal I’ve had since Thursday, and I feel sooo much better now, with no sick feeling after eating, so that’s always a good sign, right? 😉
I have about
398573295 million 4 TV shows that I want to watch tonight (Heroes, Dancing with the Stars, Gossip Girl, & Greek), so I need to figure out which I’m watching and which I’ll end up watching online (God bless the internet – although I still wish I had a Tivo).
While most of you are back in school/work, how did you celebrate the last day of the summer season?
