Friday was a fun day spent at Six Flags Marine World Discovery Kingdom with two of my sisters, my mom, & another family. They apparently changed the name of the park, but it will always be Marine World to me.
I started the morning with something new waffles topped with Jusin’s maple almond butter, spread figs, & some syrup:
All on a plate created by yours truly. Did anyone else make those type of plates in preschool/Kindergarten? I showed my creative skills and drew an actual place setting to decorate my…place setting. My fork, spoon, knife, plate (with a wide variety of different colored foods – and not sure why I chose to draw a person in the middle of my plate?), glass of milk (the smaller blue blob) & milk carton (the larger blue blob).
No wonder I excelled in art class.
I quickly ran (well technically drove) to the gym for a quick treadmill workout:
- 1.5 mile run
- .2 mile walk
- 1 mile run
Total: 2.5 miles running; .8 mile walking
My knee felt better today, but still more painful than before the shot. Everything online says cortisone shots may inflate the pain for upt to 48 hours, and it’s been more than 72 hours since this afternoon. These shots just don’t seem to work in my favor…
Morning snack (between gym & lunch in the car) was another yogurt + fruit mix (obsessed lately!)
There was more yogurt under that mess. And drizzled with maple syrup.
We made sandwiches to eat in the car on the way to the park. Turkey, honey & regular mustard, BBQ sauce, guacamole, lettuce, tomato & onion on a 9-grain roll that we picked up at the deli.
Mmmm I love seedy bread 😀
The park was fun!! I hadn’t been since I was at least a sophomore in high school (so what…6 years??). It was perfect weather (mid 70s), and the longest line we stood in was 15 minutes. Sa-weet! My sister’s friend wanted to go on the “flying” drop thing (like a bunjee cord almost), and since no one wanted to go with her, I volunteered! Keep in mind she’s only 8 years old!
Getting all buckled up for the rise up in the sky:
Almost to the top!
Then I had to pull the string to let us fall! It was quite the drop and scary but so much fun!!
She refused to unlink arms 🙂
The rest of the day was full of fun roller coasters:
Being touristy dorks and posing:
She obviously ate something blue. 😉
And food. Popcorn, cotton candy, nacho & ice cream pit stop (the father of the other family loves to spend money on junk food. It makes him happy in life. No joke, he said that).
I tried out part of this Think Fruit bar. I’ve never tried these before (or the Think Thin ones) and I have a couple “buy 1 get 1 free” coupons!
Mmmm it was really good! Tasted almost exactly like a cashew cookie larabar, but it was a bit more dry and less oily. I really liked it and would buy it again!
The generous father of my sister’s friend wanted to stop at Elephant Bar for dinner on the way home. This family loves to spend money, especially for other people – so he treated us all to dinner. I was so excited because I’ve always wanted to try this place! The menu was insane with an unbelievable amount of options I wanted to try it all!! (Unfortunately I got no pictures – the restaurant was extremely dim and I tried, but they didn’t come out. 😦 ) For appetizers, we all shared sweet potato fries and chips with artichoke dip. I had a few of each, but I’ve had better sweet potato fries at a place by my school.
For my main dish I was debating between a veggie burger, chicken lettuce wrap, or sweet & spicy chicken salad. I decided on the chicken lettuce wrap. Picture taken from the website (but it looked exactly like this):
The meat part had roasted cashews and pieces of coconut mixed in! Yum!! And that mango salsa was to die for. I ate about half of this because I knew I wanted to save room for dessert!!
I did manage to get pictures of dessert, but the picture online is better so I’m using that one. Mud pie – coffee ice cream with a chocolate crust & hot fudge underneith, topped with whipped cream & oreo pieces:
Wow wow wow. Sooo good. Especially the fudgy, crusty bottom.
We also got a Baked apple stuffed with raisins, and tons of cinnamon & ooey gooey sugary sauce. Along with some vanilla ice cream: (awful quality – I know).
This was pretty good – but the apple wasn’t cooked enough for my taste. It was still really hard & crunchy – I would have preferred it more mushy. I had a few bites of this, but more of the mud pie dessert 🙂 I also had a few bites of strawberry shortcake (which was just sugary mushy cake – not a fan). Told you this family goes all out and likes to spend money 😉 My family never gets dessert when we go out! I loved it!
I feel like I had a ton of treats and unhealthy eating all day, but looking back I really didn’t overdo it. I knew I was going to have unhealthy appetizers & that they were ordering dessert, so I made sure to only eat enough of my dinner to satisfy my hunger and still leave room. I had about 5 bites of each dessert and didn’t leave the restaraunt stuffed at all. I’m pretty happy with my eats and decisions, which is what eating in moderation and intuitive eating is all about 😀
I’ve been dying to try these sodas for a while, especially since soda is one of my vices. Yum!! So check out that giveaway!
