On my Monday’s run I got a sharp side cramp. To the point where I really couldn’t breathe. I stopped and tried to stretch it out but it never fully went away.
And I still have it. I obviously know that it’s not a side cramp now – it definitely feels more muscular. I can feel it twinge when I walk, and it kills when I make a sudden movement, laugh, cough, or even when I try to lie on my side.
I’d assume I pulled something, but it honestly randomly started hurting in the middle of a run. And I didn’t do anything dramatic. Unforunately it’s keeping me from doing weights, abs and running.
Side pain – you’re really cramping my style. No pun intended.
This morning, I was really craving some French toast. As I am unemployed and unable to fulfill my morning exercise needs, who am I to deny my right to take the time to cook a delicious breakfast?

That would be:
- 2 slices bread soaked in:
- 3 egg whites, pumpkin pie spice (out of cinnamon), maple syrup
Topped with:
- Smashed figs
- More maple syrup
Oh yummmm.

I then hit up Tar-jay since it recently became Super.
A.K.A – it now has a bigger and fresher food selection.
A.K.A – I can now find Greek yogurt, almond milk, dark chocolate dreams PB, and Greek yogurt there. Oh wait – I already mentioned the yogurt. Oh well, I was that excited. I’m sure other shoppers were frightened off by my excited grin as I browsed the food.
I got a medium sized soda to sip as I shopped. I’m not sure how the popcorn ended up in my cart.
Oh right – the nice old man cashier gave it to me because the “combo” was the same price as the soda alone. I ate about 1 1/2 cups worth. Good thing because I was starving.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS. Snack when I got home.

Oh dear caramel how can I ever express my love to thee.
I love you more than I love the drawing my sister doodled on my phone.

K – maybe not. But close.
Anyone experience a side cramp/side strain like the one I’m experiencing? Make it go away please!!!

ugh! i totally know what you’re talking about and they are the worst. sadly i have no advice but if you find the cure will you share?
i’ve heard, and this might be awkward over blogging so sorry, that it could be constipation. that’s the case with my sister who describes the exact pain youre having
that oikos looks super good! i have yet to try the caramel one! sorry about your cramping! i don’t really have any advice and that’s probably because I don’t run as much as I should haha but good luck!
yes i have experienced something very similar…..close to my obliques (but it was really the QL muscle)…..it was on the left side towards my back and happened while i was running last year randomly, like you i didn’t really do anything it just sorta came on during the run. i ended up going to PT and it turned out to be a leg length discrepensy….it was extremely random that it just suddenly happened when i had been running for years prior, but i guess it happens? have you ever been checked for that? was it on the same side as your knee problem? i ended up doing PT exercises and getting a heel lift and ive been fine ever since……it took about 8 weeks to fully recover. i would definitely recommend getting checked out if its still bothering you next week or so. good luck!
i have been wanting to try that oikos for EVER now. must get some stat. and the chocolate. who can forget that? yummy looking breakfast, tay!
Side cramps during a run are the absolute worst. I had a few during my training runs that I honestly couldn’t take one more step because it hurt THAT bad. I feel your pain.
I’ve never had one linger on after a run though but I hope it gets better for you asap!
girl, if you are buying oikos you are not on a tight budget!
Haha I’m not on my budget quite yet!!
Still living at home.
hahaha great, stock up on bars and pb while you can!
Hi there! Just discovered your blog and thought I’d say hi!
I can totally relate to the job woes (especially since we live in CA where nothing is cheap and the fields are competitive). Even though you’ve made your choice, my advice is to remind yourself that you are still young and really, experience is what is going to take you further in life than having money right now. Best of luck to you and I look forward to reading more!
Yikes! That sucks about the side cramp/pulled muscle! Hopefully it feels better soon. It’s crazy how randomly our bodies can react to things.
Yikes! I haven’t heard of that! I’m actually lying but I get those because I’m pregnant…..like MAJORLY.
I hope it gets better but if it doesn’t you should get it checked out!
Ugh…that sounds so painful!! I get side stitches a lot, but usually they go away by the end of a run. I hope it’s feeling back to normal today!
ugh. so annoying. i usually get side cramps when i drink or eat too soon before running – hope that dang thing goes away!!!
